Do Like The Locals Do

So you've hire a gulet for week or thinking about chartering one of these Turkish boats as a private trip. The gulet you are interested in may not be extravagant but rather a classic gulet type. That's great! First off you don't need to pay for the big bucks in order to enjoy Turkey's southern coastline. The trip itself is a total luxury cruise. Comfort and pleasure can be found on the not-so-vip gulet boats too. The destinations certainly don't change and remain as blissful and exciting as ever.

The route may be as quiet and peaceful or as busy and packed with a good selection of things to do and see.

One of the most satisfying pleasures on gulets is the dining. It's not the same as dining at a waterfront restaurant, nor any other restaurant inland. Why? Well to accurately describe it - there is no way. You actually have to live it. But for the sake of this blog, eating on board a wooden gulet in the compounds of mother nature can be described as unbelievably much better than eating anywhere else.  How so?

On private gulet cruises the foods taste better - especially if you are BBQ'ing fresh fish over charcoal. The Turkish love to BBQ - not gas but charcoal. They even brew tea and Turkish coffee on charcoal. A whole different taste altogether that you just can't get back home. The Turkish people love it so much that you may even see them BBQ'ing in the middle of winter, on the side of the highway. How original and wonderful is that!

Getting back to the subject and back to the gulet cruising... I would have to say that in order to really enjoy a gulet cruise in it's entirety is to do like the locals do. They don't pay too much attention to all else on board except when it comes time to eat. Generally all they are after is spending as much time in the water, eating and relaxing as possible for that one weeks' time. You're on holidays! Why not?

The vegetables and fruit are plentiful. You could snack on this kind of freshness all day long.

There is no time restriction to your days and whatever you do. Feel the easy-going therapy of the Mediterranean. No stress. No hurry. No worries. Be a local for a week and you will feel so rejuvenated - a new person.  Then return home feeling fresh and ready to tackle the real world again.

The Most Popular Gulet Charter Question

Asking questions is good. It helps us to understand the situation or subject better and enables us to learn more - as there is no end to learning in life. As professionals in the yacht charter industry, we receive a great deal of questions regarding gulet charters from travelers interested in such a holiday. Most of these questions are common and known - but asked just to be completely sure. No one professional should deny answers to questions for such a rich holiday. This is especially important for guests who are going on a private gulet charter for the first time.

So the more asked, the better understood. No question is ever a stupid one as some might like to think. Not everyone knows everything - even if they have read about it. Plain and simple - it's just good to ask. Well without further keeping you hanging, you might like to ask, What is the most popular gulet charter question?... According to our feedback and communication at YNG, believe it or not, the most frequently asked question is "What time of year is the best time to go on a gulet cruise?"

With all the questions on where to's, what to's, and the how to's; guests clearly prefer to know when they should consider booking their gulet holidays. This is a big question with a very big answer. The reason being is that the answer depends on some what to's and where to's. Confused? Possibly. But really you need to confirm a few things before the answer to this question can be given as it is quite a broad question to ask. So the best thing here to do is contact your yacht charter company, provide them with your plan or thoughts, and then Ask away! :)

3 Great Harbors to Embark on a Gulet Cruise Holiday in Southern Turkey

Each year the southern coast of Turkey is filled with Turkish gulets of many styles. From the large gulet boats which can accommodate up to 28 passengers to the smaller ones with only 3 cabins for up to 6 guests; there is certainly a fantastic selection of gulet charters ideal for blue cruises in the Mediterranean.  Among the few harbors to choose from, the most popular ones from Turkey are Gocek, Marmaris and Bodrum. However travelers can also embark from Fethiye as well - and if they have difficulty finding direct or connecting flights from Istanbul, there is always the Greek island of Rhodes.

Gocek, Turkey
The main benefit in embarking from Gocek harbor is the traveling distance from the serving airport of Dalaman. It's only 20 minutes away from Gocek town. The town itself is charming and surrounding by lush green hilltops and serves many nearby destinations on the Mediterranean side.

Marmaris, Turkey
Marmaris has always been a favorite holiday hotspot for holidaymakers for decades. The airport transfer is just over an hour - however a pleasant drive. It is particularly beautiful as you approach Marmaris city. The descent down to the harbor entrance is beautiful where you can see all of Marmaris and Marmaris bay - great for taking somewhat aerial shots before you reach the city water front.

Bodrum, Turkey
Bodrum is also an all-time favorite port. There isn't much for historical sites in Bodrum - but you can be sure to have a wonderful selection of nightlife entertainment to choose from. Bodrum is also home of Europe's largest open-air night club - the Halicarnassus. The driving distance from the Milas airport to Bodrum is approximately 40 minutes.

Carpe Diem 1 gulet
Depending on what you want from your gulet charter holidays in Southern Turkey; all 3 harbors are great to embark from to enjoy an exciting one week vacation at sea in both the Mediterranean and the Aegean sea regions.
